What about alternatives to bankruptcy?
No one sets out to arrive at a point where bankruptcy is the most reasonable solution to out-of-control debt. Consider the alternatives, however:
- In our experience, people who seek to work with "debt consolidators" find the payments too high and end up coming to us a year or so later still unable to get a handle on their financial situation. Remember that debt consolidation operations are funded in large part through financial arrangements with credit card companies.
- What about taking out a second mortgage? This route may land you in foreclosure anyway if you don't deal with the underlying problems that caused you to get so far in debt to begin with.
Bankruptcy may be the most practical and successful solution to your debt problem. Schedule a consultation with a lawyer to initiate a frank discussion of bankruptcy and how to rebuild your credit after bankruptcy. If bankruptcy is not your best choice, we will tell you so. We can help stop foreclosure and debt collection abuse.
